Creating Pathways That Serve Church and Community
Latin@ church leaders in the United States continually seek ways to meet the diversity of challenges the church and community face. ALTE seeks to assist these leaders in their theological preparation to undertake such a task.
The ALTE (Advanced Latin@ Theological Education) Program is a regional partnership of the Instituto Biblico Ebenezer, Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education (SCUPE) and Western Theological Seminary. The program provides Latin@ church leaders, who possess varying levels of education, the access to graduate theological education.
Multiple Pathways:ALTE provides multiple pathways to obtain accredited education and continuing education in a culturally-sensitive and contextually-based curriculum.
ALTE’s curriculum is developed from a Latin@ perspective and is taught in the community by nationally known bilingual instructors, such as Dr. Daniel Rodriguez-Diaz, Dr. Daniel S. Schipani and others.
The ALTE classes are held during evenings, weekends or weeklong intensives. All eight classes are to be completed within a 2-year period by students in a cohort group.
ALTE classes are accredited at the graduate level by Western Theological Seminary. These classes can be transferred into an accredited Master’s of Divinity (M. Div.) or Master’s of Arts (M.A.) in Theology degree program.
ALTE is also seeking to have classes accredited by colleges and universities toward an accredited Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A.) degree.
ALTE one-day workshops serve as continuing education opportunities.
Participants: ALTE seeks to reach pastors, Bible Institute teachers and alumni, as well as other Latin@ faith leaders, who have had some college, and want to pursue either an accredited B.A. degree, or M. Div. or M.A. in Theology degree.
In addition, all Latin@ faith leaders, regardless of formal education, can enroll in continuing education workshops.
Tuition: Cost is only $250 per class in the accredited degree program. (Note: Total cost per class is $500, but students receive a 50% or $250 scholarship per class).
